However, a new affiliate station in Plymouth, Indiana has stepped up to become one of the nation\u2019s most active and successful online stations, even though the station comprises the youngest group of broadcasters in the IBS Student Radio Network\u2014and said to be the only 24\/7 junior high radio station in the United States.<\/p>\n<p>In little more than six months from launching <em>Digital Storm<\/em> <em>Radio<\/em>, the students of Lincoln Jr. High School, under the direction of Ms. Paula Neidlinger, have established their station as living example of what student-run radio can achieve. Not only have they brought home three first place awards from this year\u2019s premier college <a href=\"http:\/\/backbonebroadcast.com\/BB\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/bigstock-Gold-microphone-on-pedestal-18392435.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" size-full wp-image-61536 alignleft\" src=\"http:\/\/backbonebroadcast.com\/BB\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/bigstock-Gold-microphone-on-pedestal-18392435.jpg\" alt=\"IBS College Radio Award\" width=\"64\" height=\"80\" \/><\/a>broadcasters\u2019 conference in New York City and tackled the task of creating their own staff training videos, but they have found the elusive formula for funding their radio station through local sponsorships.<\/p>\n<div class=\"su-youtube su-u-responsive-media-yes\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/UcfOhCNjM0c?\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen allow=\"autoplay; encrypted-media; picture-in-picture\" title=\"\"><\/iframe><\/div>\n<p><strong>Winners in News, Sports, Talk<\/strong><br \/>\nLast month at the Intercollegiate Broadcasting System\u2019s 75<sup>th<\/sup> annual International Conference, the LJH\u00a0Digital Storm team <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" size-full wp-image-61507 alignleft\" src=\"http:\/\/backbonebroadcast.com\/BB\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/StormRadio_2015National-winners.jpg\" alt=\"Lincoln Junior High School Radio Award Winners\" width=\"295\" height=\"182\" srcset=\"http:\/\/backbonebroadcast.com\/BB\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/StormRadio_2015National-winners.jpg 295w, http:\/\/backbonebroadcast.com\/BB\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/StormRadio_2015National-winners-100x62.jpg 100w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 295px) 100vw, 295px\" \/>were finalists in five categories in the high school division, walking away with three wins: <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Best Spot News<\/span>:\u00a0\u00a0Trenton Arveson, Nikki Laucis, and Brittney Klotz; \u00a0<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Best Sports Update<\/span>:\u00a0\u00a0Soren Houin and Shaun Frantz; and\u00a0<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Best Sports Program<\/span>:\u00a0\u00a0Adam Hunter and Korey Kopetski.<\/p>\n<p>Storm Radio is one of the few \u201chigh school\u201d stations to schedule live call-in talk shows, and has been a beta partner in testing our recently announced Backbone Talk\u2122 broadcast phone system in the cloud. The LJH radio team saw this as an opportunity to put their own spin on documenting a new technology, so they applied their media expertise and made their own training video showing how to configure a mixing board for \u201cmix-minus\u201d and how to screen phone calls through their Mac<sup>\u00ae<\/sup> computers.
