{"id":630,"date":"2012-03-28T14:07:49","date_gmt":"2012-03-28T19:07:49","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/backbone.infoportfolio.com\/?p=514"},"modified":"2020-08-31T16:35:57","modified_gmt":"2020-08-31T21:35:57","slug":"backbone-at-sxsw-2012-launches-internet-radio-simplified","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/backbonebroadcast.com\/BB\/backbone-at-sxsw-2012-launches-internet-radio-simplified\/","title":{"rendered":"Backbone at SxSW 2012, launches &#8220;Internet Radio Simplified&#8221;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>There&#8217;s no event that&#8217;s more exhilarating than Austin&#8217;s\u00a0<a title=\"South by Southwest\" href=\"http:\/\/sxsw.com\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">South by Southwest<\/a>, an annual festival that combines\u00a0<a title=\"Interactive\" href=\"http:\/\/sxsw.com\/interactive\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Interactive<\/a>,\u00a0<a title=\"Music\" href=\"http:\/\/sxsw.com\/music\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Music<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0<a title=\"Film\" href=\"http:\/\/sxsw.com\/film\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Film<\/a>, all tied together with the new, expanding\u00a0Trade Show floor. \u00a0Of course, Backbone was right in the middle of it, demonstrating &#8220;Internet Radio Simplified&#8221; for the crowds.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/sxsw.com\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-1478\" alt=\"SXSW Trade Show\" src=\"http:\/\/backbonenetworksradio.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/03\/sxsw_trade_show-1.png\" width=\"180\" height=\"115\" \/><\/a>Naturally, we were delighted being the only turnkey Internet radio station provider in the event, and even more pleased so often to hear &#8220;there&#8217;s nothing else like what Backbone does&#8221;. So that&#8217;s why we bring a mobile studio to these events, to show attendees how quickly and easily they can be on the air. And because everything they need for a remote broadcast fits into a backpack (Mac+mixer+mics), setup time is only a couple of minutes.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/backbonebroadcast.com\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-1318\" alt=\"Backbone at SXSW 2012\" src=\"http:\/\/backbonenetworksradio.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/SxSW-booth-2012-300x185.gif\" width=\"300\" height=\"185\" \/><\/a>Our mission at SxSW was twofold:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Introduce new schools to your\u00a0IBS Student Radio Network by Backbone, and<\/li>\n<li>Build on relationships with our partners to provide greater services and features for our member stations.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>We think we did pretty well on both counts. \u00a0We met student radio representatives from a number of large universities, all of whom voiced that being part of the\u00a0IBS-SRN\u00a0would be a major upgrade for their radio clubs.<\/p>\n<p>On the partnership front, we can&#8217;t say too much here, but we&#8217;re continuing to make good progress for your Backbone-hosted station. \u00a0For example, in the area of delivery, not only is your station now available in both the\u00a0<a title=\"TuneIn\" href=\"http:\/\/tunein.com\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">TuneIn<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0<a title=\"iTunes\" href=\"http:\/\/www.apple.com\/itunes\/download\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">iTunes<\/a>\u00a0radio tuners, but we expect to soon have your station become available on a new service that allows your listeners to actually record your shows for later listening, just like time shifting TV programs on your DVR. \u00a0We also met up with our friends from the\u00a0<a title=\"Public Radio Exchange\" href=\"http:\/\/prx.org\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Public Radio Exchange<\/a>\u00a0who tell us that they are getting quite a reception for their\u00a0<a title=\"Public Radio Remix\" href=\"http:\/\/publicradioremix.org\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" class=\"broken_link\">Public Radio Remix<\/a>\u00a0efforts that is available on\u00a0<a title=\"XM\/123\" href=\"http:\/\/tunein.com\/radio\/PRX-Remix-Radio-s80742\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">XM\/123<\/a>, terrestrially and on the Internet.<\/p>\n<p>From Texas we jumped on a plane and headed back to New York for the\u00a0<a title=\"College Media Association's NYC12 conference\" href=\"http:\/\/nyc12.com\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">College Media Association&#8217;s NYC12 conference<\/a>. \u00a0More on this soon.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>There&#8217;s no event that&#8217;s more exhilarating than Austin&#8217;s\u00a0South by Southwest, an annual festival that combines\u00a0Interactive,\u00a0Music\u00a0and\u00a0Film, all tied together with the new, expanding\u00a0Trade Show floor. \u00a0Of course, Backbone was right in the middle of it, demonstrating &#8220;Internet Radio Simplified&#8221; for the crowds.
