From\u00a0<a title=\"Talkers Magazine\" href=\"http:\/\/www.talkers.com\/\" target=\"_self\">Talkers Magazine<\/a>, Wednesday July 3, 2013 edition.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><b>Legendary Programmer David Bernstein Named General Manager of TalkersRadio.<br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-1365\" alt=\"David Bernstein\" src=\"http:\/\/backbonenetworksradio.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/bernsteindavid.png\" width=\"65\" height=\"102\" \/><\/b>Prolific radio industry programming and management executive\u00a0<b>David Bernstein<\/b>\u00a0has been named general manager of\u00a0<b>TalkersRadio<\/b>, the online experimental talk radio station being developed by\u00a0<em>TALKERS<\/em>\u00a0magazine for launch in mid-August. \u00a0Bernstein, a leading talk industry consultant and talent coach, has served as PD, OM or GM of such heritage stations as WOR, New York; WRKO, WBZ, and WAAF, Boston; WTIC, Hartford;\u00a0 WPRO, Providence; and KVON,\u00a0Napa\/San Francisco among others as well as VP\/programming of\u00a0<b>Air America<\/b>.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-1364\" alt=\"Kevin Casey\" src=\"http:\/\/backbonenetworksradio.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/caseykevin.png\" width=\"65\" height=\"107\" \/>TalkersRadio will operate as a 24\/7\/365 streaming station located on the\u00a0<em>TALKERS<\/em>\u00a0website (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.talkers.com\/\">www.talkers.com<\/a>) with links strategically situated on major aggregating portals and websites on the internet. Its primary target audience will be members of the broadcasting industry itself, serving as what\u00a0<em>TALKERS\u00a0<\/em>VP\/executive editor\u00a0<b>Kevin Casey<\/b>\u00a0describes as a \u201claboratory or somewhat of a \u2018skunkworks\u2019 where we can experiment with talk shows that fall outside the typical and safe fare found on AM\/FM radio.\u201d\u00a0\u00a0Casey continues, \u201cIt will be an industry farm system, gym and spring training camp all rolled into one where new show ideas and\u00a0programming concepts can be developed in a professional setting with high standards but without the restraints of commercial, ratings or corporate pressure that currently restrict most professional operations from doing what radio MUST do to survive in the long term, and that is to\u00a0<em>take chances.<\/em>\u00a0 It will not only be a place to nurture new talent but a platform upon which current well-known players can work out new approaches to their craft.
