Live.\u00a0<\/strong><em>TALKERS<\/em>\u00a0magazine announces the launch next week of \u201cTalkersRadio\u201d \u2013 a 24\/7\/365 streaming spoken-word internet radio station that will be\u00a0available to listeners on the trade publication\u2019s website,\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.talkers.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">www.talkers.com<\/a>\u00a0and feature a unique brand of stationality that, as publisher\u00a0<strong>Michael Harrison<\/strong>\u00a0describes, \u201cviews the world through the lens of the talk media industry.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>TalkersRadio\u2019s mission will be\u00a0to serve as:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<ol>\n<li>a laboratory for interesting new concepts and talent in talk;<\/li>\n<li>a farm system to help develop deserving up-and-comers;<\/li>\n<li>a real-time stage for talent to audition for specific jobs and opportunities;<\/li>\n<li>a\u00a0platform for \u201cbridge shows\u201d\u00a0&#8211; a new device by which suddenly terminated AM\/FM talk show hosts can do a series of final shows to say goodbye to their listeners and\/or announce their upcoming plans within a radio show context;<\/li>\n<li>a vehicle for \u201corphan shows\u201d \u2013 programs that do not conveniently fit into prevailing AM\/FM station format categories;<\/li>\n<li>a showcase for new and adventurous programming concepts and ideas; and<\/li>\n<li>a medium to exclusively broadcast\u00a0<em>TALKERS<\/em>\u00a0magazine live events such as the annual convention next week and Talk Radio Day at the United Nations the following day.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/ol>\n<p>TalkersRadio will also carry several \u201cregularly scheduled\u201d programs to give it, as Harrison describes, \u201cthe feel and consistency\u201d of a real radio station.\u00a0 Some of these will be talk shows about the industry and others will just be talk shows about life in general.\u00a0 \u201cThe key,\u201d according to Harrison, \u201cis most of the programming will be the type that is unavailable elsewhere.\u201d\u00a0 TalkersRadio has been in development\u00a0for\u00a0the past year and a half and is a joint project between<em>TALKERS<\/em>\u00a0parent company\u00a0<strong>Talk Media, Inc.<\/strong>\u00a0and Westborough, Massachusetts-based\u00a0firm\u00a0<strong>Backbone Networks Corporation<\/strong>.\u00a0 It will feature a leading-edge concept in broadcasting technology developed by Backbone that makes it extremely convenient and affordable for talk show hosts to do a fully produced\u00a0program \u2013 with live callers and guests \u2013 from an amazingly simple technical remote and portable set up.<\/p>\n<p>According to Harrison, \u201cOur partners at Backbone are technical wizards.\u00a0 Having them power this operation will give us the flexibility and means to really make a significant contribution to\u00a0talk radio\u00a0as both a cultural art form and a 21st century-rooted business \u2014 the ongoing mission of\u00a0<em>TALKERS<\/em>\u00a0magazine.\u201d\u00a0 Further developments about TalkersRadio will be posted in the coming days and weeks.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>To Debut to Broadcast Entire &#8220;Talkers New York 2013&#8221;
